What is Game Killer?

Game Killer is a free puzzle game for Android. It reads the list of apps installed on your phone, takes their icons, and breaks them apart. You see a pixelated, blurred or shattered icon on screen. Your job is to say which app it belongs to.

That one idea is what makes the game different from other icon quizzes. Most quiz games ship a fixed list of famous logos, so everybody plays the same rounds. Game Killer builds the rounds from your phone. Your banking app, your food delivery app, the game you play on the bus, they all show up. Nobody else gets your exact set of puzzles.

The timer is what makes it hard. You start with ten seconds per icon. By the last level you get two. One wrong answer ends the run, so there is no guessing your way through.

Looking for the Game Killer hacking tool?

Then you are in the wrong place, and it is better that you hear it now than after you install something.

Years ago an Android tool called Game Killer went around. It edited values inside other games, so people used it to change coins, health or scores. It needed root on most phones. It has not been properly maintained for years, and the copies floating around on APK mirror sites today come from all sorts of packages that nobody can vouch for.

This app is not that tool. It only shares the name. Game Killer here is a puzzle game from a small studio in Amsterdam. It does not modify other apps, it does not edit memory, it does not unlock anything, and it will not give you coins in any game.

What it does do is take the apps on your phone and turn them into puzzles that get faster and uglier until you lose. If you came here wanting to break a game, you might still enjoy one that tries to break you. It is free, so it costs you nothing to find out.

Download Game Killer APK for Android

Game Killer is distributed through Google Play. When you install from there, Google delivers the same signed APK we build, so you always get the current version without hunting for a file. It is free and there is nothing to pay for later.

We do not recommend the copies on APK mirror sites. Several of them list Game Killer under package names that are not ours, and some label it as a mod or premium build, which does not exist. The only package we publish is com.gamefun.killer.

How to install Game Killer

  1. Open the Play Store page. Tap the button above on your Android phone.
  2. Tap install. The download is small and takes a few seconds on most connections.
  3. Allow the app list permission. The game needs to read which apps you have, because that is what the puzzles are made from.
  4. Start playing. The first level gives you ten seconds per icon, so there is time to learn how it works.

You do not need to allow installs from unknown sources, and you do not need to root your phone. Both of those are only needed for sideloaded APK files, and Game Killer does not ask you to sideload anything.

How to play Game Killer

The rules fit in a few lines. An icon appears, already distorted. A timer starts. You pick the app it came from. Get it right and you score, get it wrong and the run is over.

  1. Look at the icon. It might be pixelated, blurred, cut into pieces or reduced to a black shape.
  2. Find the shape you know. Color usually gives it away first, then the outline.
  3. Answer before the timer ends. Level one gives ten seconds. Level five gives two.
  4. Keep the run alive. One wrong answer ends it, so take the hint if you are stuck.

Hints are there when you need them and they do not ruin the round. Points go up steeply as the levels get harder, so a short run on level five can beat a long run on level one.

The 8 Game Killer puzzle types

Each one hides the icon in a different way, so a logo you know by heart can still take the full ten seconds.

Pixel puzzle

The icon drops to a handful of big pixels. You get the colors and almost nothing else.

Zoomed puzzle

A tiny piece of the icon fills the screen. Usually a corner, rarely the part you remember.

Color swap

The red, green and blue channels are switched around. The shape stays, the colors lie to you.

Outline puzzle

Only the edges survive. No fill, no color, just the line where the icon used to be.

Shadow puzzle

A flat black silhouette on white. Round icons all start to look the same here.

Fragmented

The icon is cut into pieces and scattered. You rebuild it in your head before the timer ends.

Blur puzzle

Heavy blur, so only the rough color blocks come through. Harder than it sounds.

Kaleidoscope

The icon is mirrored into a pattern. Pretty, and almost impossible on the short timers.

The five difficulty levels

Same puzzles, less time, more distortion. The points go up to match.

Does Game Killer need root?

No. Game Killer needs no root, no ADB, no accessibility service and no screen overlay. You install it from Google Play and it runs.

People ask this a lot, and it is because of the name. The old tool called Game Killer did need root on most phones, so anyone searching for it expects the same answer here. This app is a normal game. The only thing it asks for is permission to see the list of apps on your phone, and that is because the puzzles are made from your app icons.

Is Game Killer safe?

The version on Google Play is signed by 1337clicks and scanned by Google Play Protect before it reaches your phone. The package name is com.gamefun.killer. If you find a Game Killer APK anywhere under a different package name, it is a different app and we cannot tell you what is in it.
